Don Brezine

Born in Cleveland, Ohio. Don Brezine graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He received a B.A. from Loyola University Chicago.

After teaching at the St. Xavier High School and the University of Detroit, Mr. Brezine a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.

During five years in Washington, D.C., Mr. Brezine worked for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law, the U.S. Justice Department, and the National Association of County Officials.

Coming to Xenia after the 1974 tornado, Brezine worked for Greene County in post-tornado programs. In 1975, Brezine became Greene County’s first County Commissioner.

Mr. Brezine joined the law firm of Carretta, Cartwright, Cornish and Brezine in 1988. With deaths and departures, the firm is now Brezine Law Offices. Mr. Brezine has three fine young partners in his general practice.

Mr. Brezine has represented individuals in the federal, state and municipal courts of Southwest Ohio. His litigation practice has brought jury verdicts in favor of plaintiffs seeking redress for illegal treatment in the workplace–sexual harassment, and age discrimination–as well as settlements in a broad range of cases including gender discrimination, retaliation for filing for Workers’ Compensation, discrimination based on disability and race discrimination.

Mr. Brezine has represented many claimants for Unemployment Compensation, most often successfully. He has also helped clients in actions before administrative agencies such as the State Personnel Board of Review.

In criminal defense, Mr. Brezine has demonstrated a willingness and ability to take cases to jury trial when indicated and to win a modest share of acquittals.

In divorce and dissolution cases as well as custody issues in Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court, Mr. Brezine has experience in working out acceptable settlement agreements. He has taken these cases to contested hearing (trials) when needed.

Mr. Brezine is past President of the Miami Valley Estate Planning Council. He has advised hundreds of individuals and couples regarding wills, powers of attorney, transfer on death deeds, trusts, advanced directives (living wills), and Medicaid.

Mr. Brezine is a member of the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association and the Greene County Bar Association.
